RIX Riga Airport is the largest international airport in the Baltic States, and its goal is to become the main travel hub in Northern Europe.

Our task, together with the design studio Asketic, was to develop a brand strategy and visual identity that would be able to compete with the best European airports and at the same time be flexible enough to support new directions of airport development. The brand is based on the recognizable IATA code RIX, which plays a central role in the new identity. Riga International Airport has become RIX Riga Airport. The name is simplified and closer to how the airport is recognized and pronounced by both local and international audiences. RIX as a symbol and wordmark serves as the basis for a unified brand architecture, setting a clear principle for the creation of existing and future sub-brands. RIX’s development strategy outlines a vision of the future, in which the airport is much more than a traffic hub. From an infrastructure facility, it is gradually transforming into a self-sufficient destination and an example of an open, people-oriented and friendly urban environment in an airport city. This transformation is marked by the central brand promise – closer than you expect. A more human airport experience, more convenient connections and wider opportunities to reach the world – RIX makes it even closer than you expect.
